You will love it

Home

A screenshot comes from ShareLaTeX web site

Sometime ago I wrote that I was amazed when I found out that Nuget supports C++. Today, I was amazed even more, when I discovered ShareLaTeX web site. This site is simply great and I don't know how I've been living without it for such a long time.

The idea is easy. Instead of installing MiKTex or other implementation of TeX/LaTeX locally do everything online. Initially, I was sceptical. I doubt if this site will be easy in use, if it has all required features etc. However, I changed my mind within seconds. Here is why I love ShareLaTeX now and why you'll love it:
  1. In order to import an existing project into ShareLaTeX is is enough to upload a zip file with all required files and that is all. It took me 10 seconds.
  2. ShareLaTeX provides an online preview of your work. Just one click and you can see how PDF with your work will look like.
  3. Syntax highlighting is also available.
  4. Uploading images is also trivial, just drag and drop.
  5. You don't have to install any packages manually.
  6. At any time you can download a zip file with the entire project.
  7. At any time you can download a generated PDF file.
  8. You can share the project with others.
  9. If you don't want to start from the scratch you can use one of many templates for example to create a CV in LaTeX.
  10. ...
Another good recommendation is that ShareLaTeX is used by the institutions like NASA, University of Cambridge, Stanford university, Harvard University, Imperial College London... To sum up, if need to use TeX/LaTeX give it a try.

Disclaimer

If you start using ShareLaTeX after my recommendation I may get some additional stuff. So if you are interested I'll appreciate if you use one the links in this post.

Thanks for the pointer to what looks like a fab project. It might come in handy for me as I sometimes have to do one off LaTeX/pdf work.
